James Bond-Style Poster
Illustrated poster commissioned by the new President of Bradley University, James Shadid, to celebrate a new milestone in his life.  I collaborated with James Shadid's son throughout this process to make sure it was exactly as he imagined. What was most important was that the final product feel reminiscent of James Bond. He wanted a "larger-than-life," playful, and meaningful feeling with a nod to Bradley University as his most recent achievement.
My Process
First, I was provided a collection of achievements along with photographs to create mockup sketches to see what composition worked best. There were several iterations of this I made on Procreate, but we landed on a simplified version that wasn't crowded with too many visuals. Next, I worked on getting a style down. I wanted something similar to a classic James Bond poster without being a copy, so I settled on something more realistic, but with elements suggestive of James Bond. This includes the "dramatic" poses, deep shadows, and smoke creeping into the scene.
Once this process was finished and approved, I went through several rounds of type to find the best one. I went with a clean, modern type with long vertical stretching that is indicative of James Bond. Finally, I brought the completed drawing into Photoshop and edited the colors to feel more vintage, finishing it with a texture that would add interest.
